Well, I might have liked them if they were honest with me about the fact that they clipped my pup's nails too short down to the quick, and so i let her run around my tennis courts and she bled bad, and i had to take her to pet emergency to make sure she was OK. The vet said they cut her nail too short and should have told us so we would have kept her in until it healed.  That was a very expensive grooming since it cost me over 100 dollars for the pet emergency. It was after hours.  Sorry to give a bad review.

These people are untrustworthy. I would NEVER bring my dog back there to be groomed, let alone for boarding. They should be shut down. Conditions are awful!

My parents have boarded heir dogs with this company many times.  My mom complains every time that she takes bedding and the bedding is never used.  We just came home from a week long break and the food she left for the dogs was never touched.  My brother left his dogs as well (larger dogs) and the food they left for their dogs was never touched.  My mother's dogs came back filthy after having been groomed just before she dropped them off.  I'm advising her and my brother to find another boarding service, but she's afraid to leave them with any boarders at all in the future.

Walked in today to ask about grooming services. Staff looked clueless and uninterested in my questions while they searched Google. Walked out. Do not go here!!!

Ray N.  Cape Canaveral, FL, 6/7/2013
I love this place! They take care of my puppy like their own! Good place for your furry friend! And 10 bucks a day you can't beat that!

Stephanie S. Cumming, GA, 4/5/2013
We boarded our dogs here, but would never use them again. Smelly, unclean, disorganized, no paperwork completed. Dogs are allowed to intermingle with others without bring monitored. It seems unsafe for the pets. Worst boarding experience by far in five years.

Comment from KJ S. of Paws & Claws On The Grove
4/8/2013 Thank you for your review.  At Paws and Claws our floors are cleaned 3 - 4 times daily as well as spot cleaned for pet bathroom accidents.  Dogs are required to have their shot records, wellness records and instructions from their vet for special medical needs or they will not be accepted in our establishment for any services.

We have 3 to 4 staff members here at all times to monitor the dogs.  Dog's behavior and Dog Parents are interviewed and observed so that we know how the animals get along with other pets and people before they are socialized with the other pets.  If the animal is antisocial or has behavioral issues, we have individual pet suite rooms that they are separated to and cared for on a more individual basis.  Your pets were separated from the others at your request.

At Paws and Claws we have never had a pet injury and all pets are treated as if they are our own.  We are monitored regularly by The Health Department and Environmental Department and always receive a very high rating.    We encourage our Pet Parents to please bring up any concerns or issues on site so we may address them immediately.  I apologize that you did not have a good experience. Our #1 priority are the pets and our pet parents that we are so fortunate to care for.

PETITION: Shut Down Abusive Boarding Facility/Puppymill

https://www.change.org/p/florida-state-house-shut-down-abusive-boarding-facility-puppymill

Kellie Jo Strabley AKA Kj Strabley is the owner of Paws & Claws Country Club & Resort or also known as Paws and Claws for doggy daycare/boarding/

and grooming. She needs to be stopped from harming all these innocent animals!! Not just boarding dogs are injured there its grooming dogs to!

And there are pictures to prove it! KJ is also a puppy-mill!! She has 2-3 litters a month and she sells the dog as a certain breed but its actually a

different one. If these puppies do not sell by certain age she dumps them off in a field or poisons them!. If they are hurt she leaves them there

to rot and suffer with no medical attention! if you go to the link there is a news story on a dog named Molly that was boarding there while the

owners were out of town but Molly was mauled to death by 7 other dogs! But Kj lied about it and said Molly died in her sleep!! And Kj had

her cremated without the owners consent just to cover up her lies!! There are so many other stories and everyone is coming forward

cause they cant take hearing all the stories anymore! Kj threatens owners of the dogs she has hurt so they cant do anything so she keeps

getting away with it!! Enough is Enough!!

Can provide pictures, names, and info to help make this process happen!

These are the pictures of my maltese max who was attacked while being boarded at kjs paws and claws in july 2012, he barely survived. She did not take

him to my vet, which we had instructed her to do incase anything happened to him. She told Me he was fine. We picked him up limping. Wound up at

emergency vet. He was full of infection and vet said no way only one dog did that amount of damage to him. Kj said he was attacked by a female

schaunzer, who he tried to mate with. Vet said since his injuries were to his belly. He tried to give up. It took 5 surgeries for him to get better.

Let me add her insurance company did finally repay our $3,000 up front costs. I consulted an attorney

and was told as long as vet bills were paid,

nothing they could do. Didnt know I could have reported to police.

I just want to put the word out that my sister took her dog to Paws n Claws on Merritt island behind burger king on 520 this morning to get a bath and

shaved. Why she was there my sister got a phone call from the owner saying her 200 pound st. Bernard got out of a cage. They said she then got out

three glass doors including the front door and was running around outside... this dog is the sweetest dog ever and listens to anything you tell her to

do. She went missing around 12 this afternoon when my sister got the call. We as a family had to search Merritt island to find the dog. We finally found

her behind Edgewood around 430 pm. When we found her she would not come to us and she was bleeding from her paws... I just want to pass the

word please do not go to these people they are not good people and do not treat their animals that our in there care good.... I have added pictures of

Millie's (dog) paws my car seat covered in blood from her paws and the cage they said she got out of... please feel free to pass the word on…

BOGIE (RIP)

Our dog suffered heat stroke at boarding facility

MERRITT ISLAND, Fla. - A dog boarding facility must now allow Brevard County Animal Services to inspect their premises once a month for one year under an agreement reached in court.

News 6 first reported about Paws and Claws Country Club Resort last year when a golden doodle named Molly was mauled to death while her owners were on vacation.

Now, News 6 has learned the facility was cited again for leaving another dog out in a play yard on a warm day in August, resulting in the dog suffering heat stroke.

According to court records, the 4-year-old Schnauzer named Bogie was left out in the hot weather for several hours.

Veterinary records show the dog had a body temperature of 107.6-degrees.

Bogie's owners, Stephen and Ruth Ann Vlasak, say the staff at the boarding facility claimed Bogie had a seizure, but their veterinarian determined it was heat stroke.

"When they brought him in he had three feet in the grave and one on a slippery slope," said Ruth Ann.

"He couldn't move. He wouldn't bark. He wouldn't look at you," said Stephen. "He was in real bad shape."

According to veterinary records, it took the doctor and his staff 45 minutes to reduce Bogie's body temperature to 100-degrees.

The Vlasaks say they spent more than $3,000 to save their dog's life.

Brevard County Animal Services cited Paws and Claws with cruel and inhumane treatment of an animal for leaving Bogie out in the heat.

"I trusted her so much," said Ruth Ann. "I told everybody about her."

News 6 went to Paws and Claws to ask owner Kelli Jo Strabley what happened that August day and to see if protocols had changed.

Staff members locked the front door of the boarding facility, and in a telephone call, they said Strabley was on vacation.

A man identifying himself as Strabley's husband called News 6 to say she had no comment.

Stephen Vlasak had a message for Strabley.

"She ought to close the front door and get out of the business. She has no business taking care of dogs," he said.

As part of her agreement settling her case with Brevard County, Strabley agreed to allow surprise inspections at her facility once-a-month for one year.

She was not ordered to pay the Vlasak's for their vet bills.
