HIALEAH, Fla. - A Hialeah man was arrested Wednesday after he tortured and killed his neighbor's cat, authorities said.
According to an arrest report, the victim called 911 after finding the mutilated remains of the cat hanging from a wooden fence.
Police said the cat had a tight rope fastened around its neck, its stomach was slit from the middle to the tail and its left paw was severed.
Detectives questioned the victim's neighbor, Eduard Rodriguez-Monteagudo, 20, who confessed to luring the animal to his home, police said.
Authorities said Rodriguez-Monteagudo said that he was smoking a cigarette outside his home at about 3 a.m. Wednesday when the victim's cat walked into his yard.
He said he lured the cat into his bedroom and played with it.
Police said Rodriguez-Monteagudo told them that he then became upset at the cat. The remainder of the discussion with police was redacted from the arrest report.
The suspect was arrested on a charge of animal cruelty with the intent to injure or kill.
Rodriguez-Monteagudo spoke to Local 10 News reporter Carlos Suarez after he bonded out of jail.
He claimed that he tried to kill the cat, but then "couldn't go through with it."
"He didn't chicken out because what we saw back there was a pretty gruesome sight," the cat's owner, Eddie Martinez, said.
Rodriguez-Monteagudo told Suarez that he tied something around the cat's neck and then let it go. He claimed that he never cut the cat and that it hanged itself.
When asked what the cat did to make him tie something around the cat's neck to harm it, Rodriguez-Monteagudo said: "Literally, nothing."
The man told Suarez that his own insecurities caused him to hurt the animal.
"For once in my life, I pretty much have everything and I've never accomplished anything in this world," Rodriguez-Monteagudo said. "And I tried to and I couldn't even pull through it because I'm a 'expletive.'" 
The cat's owner told Local 10 News that the cat was named Boo and was 5 years old.
Hialeah police said Rodriguez-Monteagudo was recently hospitalized under Florida's Baker Act for trying to cut off his genitals.
When asked if he would be willing to get help, Rodriguez-Monteagudo said: "Yes, but for other issues not relating to this."
Rodriguez-Monteagudo's father told Local 10 News that he was disturbed by the allegations against his son.

LILY THE YORKIE WAS SEVERELY BEATEN & LEFT TO DIE (YouCaring)

Lily is a beautiful yorkie that was discovered by an employee of a Publix supermarket on Miami Beach, Fl. on 04-07-2017 inside their parking garage. Lily is suspected of being severely beaten & battered! The culprits then decided to leave Lily to suffer and die a cruel death by a trash can inside the Publix supermarket parking garage! Police officers were immediately called to investigate and find help for Lily. I was called to assist with providing the life saving emergency vet care Lily now needed to even have a chance at surviving. Lily was was found unable to move, lying on her side with blood gushing from her mouth. Her eyes were bloodshot and she would only occasionally moan in pain but was barely responsive. Lily was clinging to life!

I rushed Lily to my 24 hour veterinary clinic in Doral, Fl. to try and save her (SEE VET INFO BELOW). After X-rays were done and a full examination was conducted Lily was discovered to have several broken ribs, was peeing & pooping blood, and suffered some head trauma. It is strongly suspected that Lily was savagely beaten by someone and then left to die based on the type of injuries she suffered and the location that she was found. Miami Beach police have additional evidence that I cannot disclose to the public at this time to not compromise the integrity of an ongoing criminal investigation.

Lily's initial bill was $1990 last night and she still needs round the clock care to even see if she will be saved. So far she's been fighting hard and we don't want to give up on her but money to cover the astronomical costs of saving her is a reality. Without it I can't save beautiful animals like Lily who deserve a second chance and justice for what's been done to them. Please everyone I really need ALL OF US TO COME TOGETHER FOR LILY! Friends it is with much heartbreak and overwhelming sadness that Lily has passed away. My heart is broken in a thousand pieces over losing Lily. She didn't deserve to suffer like this and then die without a second chance at life!! Lily fought so very hard and we fought hard for her! We provided the best care available and didn't spare a penny to make sure Lily had the best chance possible at a recovery. Sadly it wasn't meant to be but this is not over! A full blown police investigation is currently being conducted by the Miami Beach police department. There are a few leads that have surfaced that may lead us to Lily's abuser but I can't disclose them at this time to preserve the integrity of the investigation. I promise I will keep everyone posted on any progress made in the investigation. Lily's story will be featured in the media within the next few days to draw attention to her case and possibly bring us more information that will lead to her abusers.

Police searching for person who left dog to die in Miami Beach garage

MIAMI (WSVN) - Police are searching for the person who beat a small dog and left her to die in a parking garage, where she was found lying motionless, earlier this month.
Surveillance video from Friday, April 7, shows a red Toyota Yaris pulling into the Publix parking garage off West Avenue. A man then gets out and appears to be taking something out of his car, police said, before setting it on the ground.
Detectives believe he was handling the 4 or 5-year-old Yorkshire terrier, who police named Lily.

“Someone basically had to have beaten and strangled her and then literally just took her body and left it there,” said Dr. Joy Carter, the treating veterinarian.
Carter said Lily had several broken ribs and signs of strangulation. She died two days after being found.
A Publix employee found the six-pound dog in a garage next to the supermarket, and a Miami Beach Police officer then helped bring the dog to Doral Centre Animal Hospital.
Further video showed the man walking to an elevator with his face clearly visible. Police said, before he drove off, after going to the restroom, he may have stomped on Lily.
The Publix employee found her lying on her side, breathing and crying in pain.
“The dog came in with pretty severe injuries to the left side of the chest. It had like seven fractured ribs. It had indications that it had been strangled with some type of leash or collar or rope,” Carter said, “and then had pretty severe head trauma; the dog was actually pretty much comatose or unconscious when it came in.”
There was no evidence that a car might have hit Lily.
MBPD detectives are looking to identify and speak with the man shown in the surveillance video.
“What we’re trying to do is get his picture out there for the public, ’cause someone’s gotta recognize this guy,” Carter added.

Man Seen in Miami Beach Beaten Dog Video Charged With Animal Cruelty

A man was arrested and charged for the fatal beating of a small dog found at the parking garage of a Miami Beach Publix after surrendering to authorities Wednesday.
The man, who identified himself as Sigman Hernandez, spoke with NBC 6 as he walked into the Miami Beach Police Department headquarters. He said a detective contacted him and asked him to come in for questioning.
Miami Beach Police said they arrested and charged Hernandez with animal cruelty with intent to injure or kill.
Hernandez also told NBC 6 he found the dog in an alley near the Publix and decided to take it so it wouldn't get run over.
"I didn't hurt the dog. It wasn't even my dog," said Hernandez. The 40-year-old added that he left the dog because he had to go to work and didn't know what else to do.
Police said the little Yorkshire terrier was found by an employee on the second level of the parking garage at 1920 West Avenue back on April 7.
Officers responded and found the 6-pound dog, which was severely injured and appeared to be dying, police said. The dog was brought to the Doral Centre Animal Hospital, where she was named "Lily."
Lily was in critical condition with seven broken ribs on her left side and two broken ribs on her right side, police said. She also had swelling on her neck and bloodshot red eyes which indicated she may have been strangled, police said.
Lily was given care at the hospital but died two days later from her injuries, police said. A picture of Lily in her final moments show her resting on her side, bandaged and in pain. X-rays show the internal injuries.
"I don't understand how someone can do this. I mean it's just heartless. This is a dog that is less than eight pounds and completely helpless," said Dr. Joy Carter, one of the doctors who treated Lily. "She was in pretty severe condition, she was obviously pretty much comatose, not conscious or anything like that."
Police said surveillance cameras at the Publix captured a man in a red Toyota Yaris in the garage the day Lily was found. The man is seen removing an item from his car near where the dog was found, police said.
At one point, the man is seen bobbing up and down near where he placed the object, police said.
"It is strongly suspected that the subject may have been stomping on 'Lily's' body since he lingered in the spot where she was eventually found but it's unclear in the video at this time," a detective wrote in an incident report.
"It takes a sick person to abuse, any abuse, to an animal or a child or anyone who's obviously helpless," Dr. Carter said.

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. - Miami Beach police have arrested a man in the death of a Yorkshire terrier that was found in a parking garage, authorities said on Wednesday.
Sigman Hernandez was arrested on a charge of animal cruelty.
A Publix employee found the dog April 7 in a parking garage next to the supermarket.
Photos of the 6-pound dog show her lying motionless on the ground.
The dog, who police named Lily, did not have a tag or microchip.
"She was just lying on her side. She was not moving. She was yelping occasionally, and you could really see something was wrong. She was really hurt, badly," Officer Mariana Garcia said.
Garcia helped get Lily to an animal trauma center.
Veterinarians said the dog had seven broken ribs and signs of strangulation. There was no evidence that she could have been hit by a car.
Veterinarians tried everything to save the little dog, but she died two days later.
Surveillance video shows a red Toyota Yaris pulling into the Publix parking garage off West Avenue the morning of April 7.
"The gentleman in the video is seen removing something from the passenger side and placing it down near the trash can area," Garcia said. "We do believe it's Lily that he removed from his vehicle."
Hernandez is allegedly later seen taking an elevator to the bathroom before leaving.

Man confesses to ‘slapping and possibly choking’ Yorkie after she vomits in car

Miami Beach police say Sigman Hernandez confessed Wednesday to “slapping and possibly choking” his tiny Yorkshire Terrier and leaving her in a Publix parking garage.
The reason, he told police: The dog vomited in his car.
Hernandez, 40, of Miami, now faces a third-degree felony animal cruelty charge, punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine up to $10,000, according to state statutes. He also faces one count of animal abandonment. He was being held Wednesday night in Miami-Dade’s Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $6,000 bond.
On Tuesday, police released video of a “person of interest,” after a barely 8-pound dog was found next to a concrete column in the Publix garage at 1920 West Ave. Officers took the dog, later named Lily, to Doral Centre Animal Hospital, a 24-hour emergency facility. The dog had at least seven broken ribs and showed signs of strangulation, police said. The dog died from her injuries two days later.
Garage surveillance video showed a red Toyota Yaris with a delivery sign on the roof back into a parking space shortly before the dog was found. The video showed the man go into the elevator, go to the restroom and then return to his car.
On Wednesday afternoon, the police department tweeted they were speaking with the “person of interest” seen in the video and later announced the arrest.
Hernandez, whose occupation is listed as a delivery person, told police he took the dog out of the car and placed it on the garage floor.
“The defendant admitted to pushing his dog with his feet while the dog lay on the garage floor,” the officer wrote in Hernandez’s report. “The defendant then abandoned his dog to suffer without providing care and assistance.”

Dangerous Dogs, Animal Cruelty (leading to death)

Charged with two counts of having unvaccinated dogs, total $1,100 fine. Court date 4/21/17 for cruelty to animals relating to the death of one of her dogs, Mista, a shepherd that had to be euthanized due to the condition it was found in. The other dog, Keeko, will apparently also be put down. Please contact the State Attorney General's office if you would be willing to write a letter asking for a state animal abuse registry.

This is what rescuers face everyday. We need better animal cruelty laws. I am posting this because I think people should see the truth. It's not always great before and after photos. I am still recovering and have a ways to go.

A chow was posted on facebook on March 11th that needed help.

This chow was discovered after a Private Investigator doing work was alerted by the mail lady regarding a German Shepard being kept inside an airline crate in the hot sun for over a year.

Animal Control was called and the story the owner gave was that the owner’s brother raised a leash at the Shepard like he was going to hit him (probably intended to) and the Shepard bit the brother. So, they decided to crate the dog in an airline crate outside, the airline crate is the size big enough for a 30lb dog. The Shepard could not even stand up in it. They left the Shepard in that crate for a year and NEVER let the dog out. That's right..ate in there ( when fed ) went to the bathroom in there..

Of course, when Animal Control arrived the dog was so ruined by this he was kennel crazy, and unfortunately could only be handled if tranquilized. Even then, an officer was bit. Sadly, the dog was euthanized. His name was Mista.

The owner’s also had a chow that they stated was not aggressive and were willing to surrender to animal control or rescue. Primarily because they did not want to pay the fine for having an unvaccinated animal.
Animal Control did not remove the chow the same day they removed the Shepard.

A post went out on Facebook for rescue help for the chow. An out of state rescue had an available foster in Florida willing to take him if his evaluation went well.

So my rescue partner Wendy and I went to evaluate him since we were closer than the foster. The owner would not allow us to handle the dog and only see him and interact through the fence. Saying he is not aggressive and has gotten out several times and never hurt anyone.

The chow named Keeko, responded well to my dogs through the fence and even took treats gently from me through the fence. I felt he would be so grateful to get the heavy chain that was around his neck off. Keep in mind, this dog was chained to the house by the front gate with no shelter, no water bowl and no food, and had no current vet care. We did notice the brother to the owner carried a big metal serving spoon around him.
I took video and sent it to the foster, it was all I could get. The next step would be for me to get him out of there and evaluate him and meet the foster. After some time working around the owner’s schedule I was able to get her to meet me for pickup.

March 25th, I think it was around 11:40am when I arrived and by noon I was headed to the hospital.

Arrived and the Private Investigator’s son, Robby was waiting for me, he came to help me. The owner’s brother took the crate I had brought and put it inside the fenced in area. I had brought a metal barrier with me, coral, to slowly ease him into the crate. I stood behind this and let the brother work with him as instructed by the owner. Keeko starts sniffing the crate, and is curious. He remembered me and my dog and was happy to see us. Keeko was halfway in the crate and the brother kicked him to get him all the way in, Keeko reacted and turned to snap at the brother. The brother yelled at him calling him by his name and then Keeko instantly turned and lunged up over the barrier I was behind for my face. I put my arm up instinctively and he held on tearing like a K9 police dog. The brother backed away and literally watched and did nothing. The PI’s son raced over and asked what he could do. Not much really..you don’t want to pull away from a bite. So I backed up slowly to the main gate and the PI’s son and I were able to close Keeko’s head in the gate and apply pressure. During this time Keeko is trying to follow us out through the gate, he is still on his chain so the PI’s son yelled to the owner’s brother “you’ve got to hold him back!” Next thing I see is the brother coming after Keeko with a two by four. Then the PI’s son used his foot to try and distract him, it worked and Keeko let go but grabbed his shoe ripping the sole right off and biting his foot. I can’t imagine what would have happened if the brother had hit the dog with the wood, the dog would have turned on him for sure as he was so hyper fixated. And I would not have been able to help or get to the hospital in time. There was a lot of blood. I worked in an ER and OR and..it was a good amount of blood.

Robby sprang into action and we got in my car as I had my dog with me, he raced me to the nearest hospital where they wheeled me into trauma. Meanwhile, Robby drove my dog home and got my husband. I passed out in trauma probably just from shock. I didn’t feel much and only started to feel anything once they started taking x-rays. No arterial spraying so I was moved to the ER where they put me under anesthesia and cleaned the wound out really good and then had to do some loose sutures because tendons were showing. Keeko was not vaccinated. The police responded to the ER pretty fast and it was decided that they would quarantine the dog for the ten days instead of having to inject me with the rabies vaccine into the wounds.

So for the past several weeks it has been a lot of doctor’s appointments making sure I did not get compartment syndrome or infection. My most recent visit, yesterday determined the infection has gone to the bone so I have to have my arm in a sling for at least two weeks, on a new antibiotic and they don’t want me using my arm. Will re check next week. Then once the open wounds heal I can start rehab for any nerve damage. I have a total of 29 punctures.

AFTER I was bit I got a text from the owner saying he has bitten several other people. Had this have been disclosed it would have been a very different situation. In my opinion I believe Keeko was abused just like their Shepard Mista. I believe he was trained to be a guard dog…very poorly trained as good training would never have allowed a situation like this to happen. Also, I have been told but have not verified myself, that the owners had been trying to sell the dogs as guard dogs prior to.

What did the owners get? A $255 fine for having an unvaccinated dog. What will Keeko get? Death.
What did the owners get for Mista the Shepard? A $755 fine. What did Mista get? Death.

The owner Delores West of Jacksonville, FL has a court date on April 21st concerning cruelty charges for Mista. I am asking that any Florida citizens please write a short letter to the judge explaining why Florida needs an animal abuse registry and why Delores West deserves the maximum punishment. She and her brother should not be allowed to own an animal ever again.

She now has 4 citations. AC cited her $500 for having a chained dog with no shelter, food or water. Case numbers are in photo comments.

On another note, I was not alone that day. I had tachy symptoms that morning so took a beta blocker which slowed my heart rate down which allowed for my heart to pump blood a bit slower and probably kept me calmer. I had not had to take a beta blocker in months..so strange I did that day. Robby was awesome and was really good under pressure, I know all the blood freaked him out. He got me to the hospital right away and got my dog home- huge relief!! Had he not been there I probably would have passed out driving to the hospital or in their yard. ALWAYS have someone with you!

And in a way I am glad it was me that got bit- it easily could have been a child and the damage could have been much worse.

Dunedin couple accused of killing parents' dog

TARPON SPRINGS, FL (WFLA) - Pinellas deputies have arrested a man and his girlfriend for breaking into his parents' home and killing their dog.

Deputies responded to the victims' home at Mary Lane in Tarpon Springs Monday night after the couple arrived home just after 8 p.m. to find their 4-year-old Lab "Daisy" dead and iPad stolen.

The investigation found the victims' son, 34-year-old Daniel Adams, and his girlfriend, 28-year-old Lauren Curran, both of Dunedin, had committed the burglary.

Deputies say Adams and Curran drove to his parents' home with their child, with the intention of killing the dog. Both admitted to deputies that Curran killed the dog with an intravenous needle filled with an unknown medication.

They committed the burglary and stole the iPad in an attempt to make his parents think someone else had committed the crime, detectives say.

Both were arrested on Wednesday and charged with Burglary, Cruelty To Animals and Child Abuse.

Donna Ritchie, 43, who was convicted in 1997 and sentenced to life in prison, was facing going through another trial before she entered her plea of guilty to fondling the boy.

An 11-year-old boy in Middleburg is facing aggravated animal cruelty charges. Police say he killed his family's rescue dog and buried it without saying a word for three weeks.

"That's actually where he buried her, we found her a couple feet up over there," said the boy's mother who is going by 'Kim' to not reveal her son's identity.

For three weeks this Middleburg mom looked for her 7-month-old rescue dog Jade. She never imagined her dog was murdered.

"There was a hole there, and a bag sticking out of it and I just slowly pieced together the pieces," she said.
Her 11-year-old son eventually confessed to the crime. He told his mom he stabbed the dog and buried it in their backyard. The dog was found without a head after other dogs dug it out.

"As a mother and a rescuer it's so, like I said I cry all the time," said the boy's mom.

The child was charged with aggravated animal cruelty and was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center. He's now one of a few children accused of killing animals on the First Coast recently.

Two Clay County teenage girls were arrested in August after they recorded themselves lighting a tortoise on fire and then stomping it to death. In Springfield, a 14-year-old is facing charges for lighting a cat on fire.
The Jacksonville Humane Society says fortunately they rarely get cases of animal abuse.

"They might be animals that come to us from animal care and protective services because law enforcement might have been involved in taken them from a home, dog fighting is a big example of abuse that we've seen recently," said Diana Fox, Community Relations Coordinator with the Jacksonville Humane Society.

The 11-year-old's mother says she's been doing rescue work with animals for four years. She says this has been devastating to her on both sides.

"Now we're doing family counseling every week, they recommend a psychological evaluation which he's scheduled for," said the child's mother.

GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. — An 11-year-old boy from Middleburg, Florida, is facing a felony animal cruelty charge in the killing of his mother's rescue dog.

The Clay County Sheriff's Office spoke to the boy's mother, who said one of her dogs disappeared last month.

She told investigators her son initially told her that he let the dog outside and it never came back.

The boy's mother said a few weeks later, another dog vanished.

As the mother and her boyfriend started looking for the dog, they stumbled over a shallow grave in the backyard.

They discovered one of their dogs had been buried there with its head missing. The mother's son admitted he killed the dog and buried it.

The boy, a Middleburg Elementary School student, is being held at the Duval Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Jacksonville.

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. - Egregious and cold-hearted -- that’s how the national group, "People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals or PETA, is describing a Clay County case of animal cruelty.

Investigators charged 11-year-old Dillon Noyer with felony animal cruelty after they said he admitted to killing his family's rescue dog and burying it without saying a word for three weeks.

Typically, News4Jax does not report the names of minors or use their photos, but because of the severity of the charge he’s facing, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office is making it public.

The police report outlines some incredibly callous behavior by Noyer. His mom said there were never any signs that her son would or could something like this but said he did admit to stabbing her rescue dog Jade and then burying her in the backyard.

“Everybody’s been kind of on me about, 'How dare you report your son. How dare you do this,'" said Kimberly Noyer, the boy's mother. "Once they found out, the state took over and honestly, I don’t want to see him go any further. He needs to get help and he is. We are getting counseling and he is getting anger management and doing psych evaluations.”

Kimberly Noyer told News4Jax she runs a rescue out of her home and that her son kept quiet about the killing for three weeks. He only confessed after she confronted him after the family’s other pets started to dig up Jade's shallow grave.

PETA is now using this case as a call to action for others to teach empathy and compassion for animals in schools.

“If a child can possibly kill his family’s companion and not recognize the immense fear and hurting this animal surely felt, that is cause for serious concern,” said Nina Kahn, with PETA. "Countless studies show that people who abuse animals will rarely stop at that. But by promoting kindness to animals through humane education, schools can have a chance to reach kids before they commit an act of violence on any living being.”

The 11-year-old is now being held at the Duval Juvenile Detention Center. He’ll be in court Wednesday morning for his first appearance.

Kimberly Noyer said she’s passionate about her rescue work and animals and will not let what’s going on with her son deter her from doing something she gets so much joy and satisfaction out of.

PETA sends letters to schools in Clay County after boy's arrest for beheaded family dog

Schools in the Clay County area received letters from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals Tuesday after reports that an 11-year-old boy beheaded and buried one of his family’s rescue dogs.

The boy’s mother, who rescues animals, reported the incident to authorities Oct. 1 after the dog was found without a head in a shallow grave in the family’s backyard in Orange Park, according to the arrest report. He was charged with aggravated animal cruelty Oct. 14.

His mother expressed on her Facebook the heartache the family is going through and having to take action.

“Just need everyone’s support,” she posted. “I’m sure all of you mothers can imagine what I’m going through.” Even worse, she wrote, is that “my sole purpose in life is rescue and something like this happens. ... And obviously it’s not the only obstacle we’re facing.”

She and the boy are not being identified by the Times-Union because of his young age.

She had about 10 dogs and 10 cats at her residence at the time of the incident, according to the arrest report.
The dead dog’s name was Jade.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals’ humane education division, TeachKind, sent the letters Tuesday morning to encourage the schools to educate students about the dangers of abusing animals, according to the organization.

The letters warned that violence to animals can lead to more severe acts against humans. The group is offering to help with presentations in area classrooms.

Jade went missing Sept. 11 and when the mother initially asked her son if he knew anything about the situation, the boy said he let the dog go outside, according to the arrest report.

The mother and her boyfriend found the dog carcass in their backyard Sept. 25 while they were looking for another dog.

The boy then told his mother he killed the dog when she asked him if he knew anything about the dog in the grave.

The mother’s boyfriend reburied the dog that day and she alerted the Clay County Sheriff’s Office Oct. 1, according to the arrest report.

Total of 12 dogs, cats surrendered by Middleburg rescue

MIDDLEBURG, Fla. — The population at Clay County Animal Control grew by 12 on Wednesday after dogs and cats were surrendered by their owner.

Investigators say Kimberly Noyer has been operating a rescue called Kim’s Itty Bitty Babies out of a Middleburg home, but last week, she told them she planned to stop after three of her dogs were found suffering from Parvo.

We found Noyer is a former Clay County Animal Control kennel attendant who has fostered dozens of animals.

We also uncovered multiple complaints against her, her boyfriend, Jason Kuleza, and the rescue.

In October, Action News told you her son, 11 year old Dillon was charged with felony animal cruelty after allegedly decapitating a dog.

In December, Clay County Code Enforcement warned Kulesza there were too many animals in this home.

We spoke to the county’s director of Environmental Services, Alan Altman, by phone Wednesday. He confirms investigators found 21 dogs and cats -- 16 more than what’s allowed by law. Noyer voluntarily surrendered 12 of them.

In the past, he said, as many as 86 were kept there, and this rescue could have been considered hoarding.

He said Noyer has not always cooperated, but on Wednesday, he said she did. Noyer said all but one of the 12 animals surrendered has been deemed healthy and they continue to investigate.

The property owners where the rescue was operating were originally scheduled to appear before special magistrate Thursday for that code violation, but late Wednesday afternoon, we received word from the court that that hearing will be rescheduled. A date has not yet been set.

Kim’s Itty Bitty Babies is a state registered nonprofit, but we contacted the Department of Agriculture, and they confirmed the rescue was not properly registered to receive donations. According to the website, the rescue accepts up to $250 for each dog placed in a home.
